As to where her previous two albums seemed very average, bland and almost generic in a way, this one seems to stand out in such an unassuming way. I tend to find myself flip flopping when it comes to her Korean and Japanese music, but I’ve always liked this album. Guilty pleasure track – Maybe… maybe, not…īoA’s third and quite possibly my favorite Japanese album from her is LOVE & HONESTY. Her Korean stuff seems more rnb-pop to me, this was the start of her changing up her sound and it both works an… doesn’t work. I always thought I dug this album, it of course isn’t bad, its your typical early BoA fare. Good-bye is not bad, but it was a kinda dull way to end the album. Etude is a track in which I have come to expect from her, she has at least one every album. My Prayer is a nice ballad, and Maybe… maybe, not… is one of those songs that seem out of place, but I like it. It starts off with My Name, which I thought hit harder than it does, yet comes across as very lukewarm to me suddenly. My Name is BoA’s fourth Korean album and just like her fourth Japanese album it is just so forgettable to me not more than Atlantis Princess, but close enough. This album, despite not being bad or terrible just leaves me as soon as the last track fades. With U despite making the cut has always went over my head it ends on a pretty forgettable note with First Snow. Stay My Gold is a decent track as well as soundscape but they don’t stick as much as I would have liked them to. Love is just what you can’t see sounds like a track that should have been on her fifth Korean album or something. LONG TIME NO SEE is a nice track that seems a tad bit out of place. I’ve been trying for years in it just hasn’t grow on me like I’ve wanted it to.
By Your Side is OK, but I’ve always felt a weird disconnect with OUTGROW ~Ready butterfly~. Silent Screamerz was a very lukewarm way to start off the album, I feel like it should be more high energy than it is. DO THE MOTION is I believe her highest selling single, period.
I have never quite fully understood why I don’t care for BoA’s fourth Japanese album OUTGROW despite some of her best tracks being on here.
